Diffusion MRI - suren1111 - 04-15-2015 10:48 PM Dear Admin, I would like to know types of Diffusion MRI. I would also like to know Diffusion Kurtosis Imaging. RE: Diffusion MRI - aelster - 06-16-2015 05:49 PM Dear Suren111, Diffusion kurtosis imaging is still in the research stage, but very interesting. I didn't include it in the routine Q&A's but may consider putting it into an advanced section in the future. The basic idea is that the diffusion rate, even along a fixed direction, is not necessarily constant. Experimental evidence shows that water molecules tend to slow down faster than expected by a simple gaussian curve the further they are away from their origin. This can be expressed by a kurtosis factor, K, in that direction. I have attached a recent review article from the AJR you may find helpful. Allen Elster |
